The Historical Crisis Committee (HCC) is a simulation that takes hold of an issue or event that can be discussed and debated by the Security Council or any United Nations committee. This council is dependent on delegates' judgments and how activity can immediately affect the perpetual crisis at hand. A topic that can be simulated in the Security Council (SC) would be anything that could be “the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression” (UNSC). It calls upon the parties to a dispute to settle it by peaceful means and recommends methods of adjustment or terms of settlement, but can even delegate the power to “resort to imposing sanctions or even authorize the use of force to maintain or restore international peace and security” (UNSC).
