2017 UNODC Topics

Topic A : The Issue of Fraudulent Medicine
The trafficking of fraudulent medicine has the potential to harm or even kill patients as they do not get the medication that they need or the "medication" given to then has harmful ingredients such as chalk or saw dust and no active ingredient. This issue needs to be addressed soon, as the issue is quickly rising as criminal groups are taking interest. You will be working to help end the issue of trafficking these falsified medications for both the health of citizens across the globe and to discontinue the criminal activity of selling, trafficking, and manufacturing fraudulent medicine.

Topic B : Illegal Animal Poaching
Animal poaching is a problem all around the world, but some nations that have the most recognized cases are Europe, Asia, and Central America. Many animal populations have been on a downward spiral because of poachers. Though, the poaching of animals is a universal epidemic, every country has its own laws and regulations on animal poaching and discipline for their poachers. There is also no universally accepted term for wildlife crime yet because, every country handles it differently. Crafting laws and regulations every country can agree to, come up with a universally accepted term for wildlife crime, and finding a way to stop poachers are all goals for this council.
